After 9+ years teaching in Poole, Clinton has stayed deliberately manual. A manual licence covers both gearboxes — pass in a manual and you can hire, borrow or buy automatic without retesting. The reverse isn't true. Used manual cars are still cheaper and more plentiful, and the gearbox-skill argument doesn't disappear with EVs.
