Frequently Asked Questions

Q When can I start taking Driving Lessons?

A Once you have obtained a provisional license.

Q Do I need to pass my Theory Test before taking lessons?

A NO. All you require is a provisional license and you can study for your theory while taking lessons. But you must pass your theory and obtain your certificate before the Driver Vehicle Testing Agency (DVTA) will allow you to book your Driving Test.

Q How many Lessons will I need?

A That depends on if you have had any driving experience or not. It can take anything from 20 to 50 Hours of lessons. Our objective is to teach you Safe Driving for Life to the point where you can handle a car without feeling nervous, have confidence and develop good observational & planning skills, and then you will be ready to take your Driving Test. 48 Hours of Driving Tuition is only 2 days of your life devoted to learning to drive.

Q Are Intensive Courses any good?

A YES, they really speed things up. No driving school or instructor can guarantee you a pass; the only person who can do that is the pupil. Learning to drive requires effort from both the instructor and the pupil. Our instructors have no problems putting the effort in to teach pupils, but we don't have magic wands and can't program the information into the pupils head.
So if you want to learn quickly and are prepared to put the effort in, then an intensive course is for you and there is a very good chance you will be ready for your test by the end of it.

Q How can I choose a good Driving School?

A Don't choose your driving school because you like the look of its name. Gaining confidence to drive is done by giving calm, friendly, professional instruction. Try to find out about the school's repuation before choosing your Driving School.

Q Why do Prices vary for each driving school?

A Some instructors work 7 days per week, which means they can give cheaper lessons. So if you are planning on taking your lessons on a Saturday or Sunday, stop and think how tired and uninterested your instructor could be. We recommend you take a 1+1/2 hour or 2 hour lesson per week. Quality works better than Quantity.

Q Can a resident of Republic of Ireland take a practical Driving Test in Northern Ireland?

A Only if they hold a UK provisional license to a registered Northern Ireland address.
